Meet the Builder Event: Behind the Build
Join Travars Built Homes on Saturday, September 12th, for a closer look at a custom home during its final stage of construction.
From 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., visitors can tour the home at 4025 Hamlets Chapel Rd in Pittsboro and spend time with Andrew and Phil Travars. The event will focus on the design decisions that shaped the home, the finishing process, and the detailed review completed before the homeowners receive their keys.
Hear the Design Story From Andrew
As Travars Built Homes’ designer and consultant, Andrew works closely with homeowners to understand their priorities and guide the decisions that shape their home.
During the event, Andrew will discuss the layout, architectural details, selections, and planning conversations behind Hamlets Chapel Rd. Visitors can learn how a homeowner’s ideas are developed into a design and how those choices are carried through the building process.
Walk Through the Finishing Process With Phil
As the builder, Phil oversees the construction of the home and the work required to prepare it for completion.
Phil will explain the final inspection and blue-tape walkthrough process. During this stage, the builder carefully reviews each room and identifies details that need attention, including paint, trim, cabinetry, flooring, fixtures, and hardware.
Guests will be able to see how Phil evaluates completed work, manages final corrections, and prepares the home for homeowner orientation and move-in.
See a Custom Home Before It Is Finished
Touring the home at this stage provides a useful look at how design and construction come together. Visitors can see the floor plan, materials, craftsmanship, and finishing details while asking Andrew and Phil questions about their individual roles in the process.

No—while photos and updates help, the framing and pre-drywall walks are the most important to attend in person. Those stages are when layout, ceiling heights, and systems are easiest to understand and adjust. At Travars Built Homes, we help out-of-town clients prioritize the walkthroughs that matter most.
Can construction photos replace on-site visits for homes built around Pittsboro, Chapel Hill, or Hillsborough?
Photos are helpful for tracking progress, but they can’t fully show scale, sightlines, or how spaces connect. Being on site reveals details that are hard to interpret on a screen, especially on wooded or sloped lots common in this area. We use photos to supplement—not replace—clear, in-person conversations.
What if I don’t know what I’m looking at during a construction walk?
That’s completely normal—most homeowners don’t, and that’s okay. Your builder will explain what you’re seeing, what matters at that stage, and what decisions (if any) need attention. Our role is to guide each walk so you leave feeling informed, not overwhelmed.
